Lalah Hathaway is an artist, singer/songwriter and producer. She is one of the most sought-after collaborators of today's top hitmakers, an undisputed music queen with incredible vocal abilities.

She released her seventh studio solo album "Vantablack" - her strongest and most impressive project to date. Lalah Hathaway created a soundscape consisting of sixteen tracks, filled with dynamic production and superhuman vocals. The album features guest appearances by "Willow", "Rapsody", "Common", Michael McDonald, "Phonte", "MC Lyte" and Gerald Albright.

She is a multi-genre artist and has shared Grammy Award-winning songs with Beyoncé (the only two artists to ever win a Grammy three times for Best Traditional R&B Performance). Hathaway's 7 solo albums have been enriched by numerous collaborations, including Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Anderson .Paak, Robert Glasper, Rapsody, Snoop Dogg and Esperanza Spalding.

She has been praised by Billboard, Vibe, Essence and The New York Times and has performed on the most famous stages of NPR's Tiny Desk and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert". Her song "Show Me Your Soul" was on the shortlist for the 93rd Academy Awards in the category of Music (Best Original Song). Her current single "So in Love" is climbing the charts as we enter a new era of Vantablack.

Her talents have inspired invitations to the stage from music legends, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. Being the daughter of the late legend Donnie Hathaway, and coming from a family of musical geniuses, as well as her Chicago roots, have ensured that Lalah has the most soulful music flowing through her veins.

We spoke to her about her career, taste, collaborations, and expectations for the Belgrade concert:

If you could perform with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?

- It would definitely be my father, for reasons too numerous to list. It would be a dream come true.

What is your favorite song to perform live? How does the energy of the audience affect your performance?

- I don't have a favorite song to perform, and the energy of the audience definitely affects the performance. Because there is communication between the performer and the audience at that moment, so it is absolutely part of the music.

What dessert best describes you?

- Right now it would be "Philadelphia water ice" ice cream, which comes in many beautiful flavors and colors. I've been hooked on it for 6 months now. It's delicious, cold and fresh, just like me.

If your music were a cocktail, what would its ingredients be and what would it be called?

- Maybe it would be "amaretto soul", Baileys on the rocks or even a super dirty martini, so much so that you can't see through it. I get asked a lot to compare things and give them names, and I find it really hard to do that. Most of the things I really like are kind of narrow and hard to compare.

Considering your long history of collaborating with other musicians, is there anyone else you would like to collaborate with and what would that collaboration sound like?

- There are a lot of people I would like to collaborate with. For example, Sting, Tyler the Creator, Kenny Loggins and Joni Mitchell, like Stevie Wonder. I think this desire for collaborations comes from not knowing how they could sound. It's very interesting to put things together to explore what you could do with someone. Also, it's hard for me to describe the sound, but I think it would all be great.

What can we expect from your concert in Belgrade, and what do you expect from this city?

- Belgrade, just come!! Expect a great performance! I love this question. What should you expect? The best performance you've ever seen and the best singing you've ever heard. I expect the Belgrade audience to come to a good performance, to hear good music and singing. I love traveling and meeting new people all over the world, and music is a great unifier, so I expect us all to be in tune!

Don't miss the first arrival of the world's RnB queen to our capital! See you on 20th March at BitefArtCafe!
