Easter at the Ethnographic Museum

The Easter atmosphere is in the air, and a big event for all generations will make you experience Easter in the most beautiful way

The Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade is preparing a diverse program for the upcoming Easter. From 5th to 13th April, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition, workshops and expert tours dedicated to traditional Easter customs and old crafts.

Exhibition "Traditional Easter egg decoration"

For the first time in the history of the museum, drawings, watercolors and paintings documenting the customs of decorating eggs from different parts of Serbia will be displayed. The never-before-exhibited works are part of the special exhibition "Traditional Easter egg decoration".

This exhibition is the result of many years of collecting ethnographic material and represents an important source for scientific research, and visitors will be able to see the works of famous painters and museum illustrators such as Nikola Zega, Vladislav Titelbah, Mladen Miric, Milica Matlas and others. For all visitors to the exhibition on 5th and 12th April, expert guidance by museum advisor Sasa Sreckovic will be organized.

Two-week workshops

The Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade is organizing a series of workshops on traditional Easter egg decorating, intended for children and adults, from 5th to 13th April. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the old technique of decorating eggs with wax and stylus. All participants should bring two hard-boiled eggs and some onion peels.

Dates and registration

Workshops for children aged 6 to 14 will be held on 5th and 6th April, as well as on 12th and 13th April, in five sessions, starting at 11:00. Workshops for adults will be held on the same days at 17:00. The price of participation in the workshops is 300 dinars, and all interested parties can register via the link on the museum website.

Special felting workshops

Special workshops for children aged 6 to 14 will be organized on 6th and 13th April, in two sessions. Registrations are also available via the link on the museum website.

Workshops in cooperation with schools

The workshops for schoolchildren, which will be organized on 8th, 10th and 11th April, were implemented in cooperation with the schools: Jovan Ducic Elementary School, Sveti Sava, Daycare Center of the Innovative School and The 10th Belgrade Gymnasium.

The Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade invites all interested parties to join in and discover the richness of Serbian tradition in a festive atmosphere and one of the most beautiful periods of the year.
