Nisville Jazz Festival takes place from 10th August to 13th August in the largest city of southern Serbia. A manifestation that brings together numerous fans of high quality jazz organizes a diverse accompanying programme as well, with the aim of highlighting the importance of music, culture and art of different nations. The popularity and attendance of this event is best described by the Brussels magazine New Europe, which published a great article on this event and called it "Nisville - the European Face of Serbia".
Music and artistic spectacle will be played on the main, Earth stage, and besides it, there are even nine stages: Midnight, River, Open, Youth, Jazz for Kids, Movie, Kristina, Air and Welcome Stage. In addition to the fantastic music repertoire, visitors will have the opportunity to attend the rich festival content made by Nisville Jazz Theater, Nisville Movie Summit and Striporama 2017 - festival of comics and pop culture. The programme of the festival includes numerous copyright presentations, public interviews, exhibitions, debates, workshops, lectures, promotions and comic stock market. Art to Go Jazzy section, organized by the Nisville Foundation and the ARTEF Artist Association, invites artists up to 36 years of age to participate in the festival in the form of sculptures, paintings and drawings.
Patti Austin, the proud winner of the Grammy Award, opens Nisville 2017 with a big concert. The first day of the festival, 10th August, is also the date of birth of this artist, so the opening will take place in a ceremonial and celebratory atmosphere. The rich music programme is hosted by top performers from local areas, as well as by numerous musicians from America, England, Germany, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Bisera Veletanlic and Vasil Hadzimanov Band, Nisville Tango Big Band Project, Tony Momrrelle, Rock Symphony Bitola, Csaba Tot Bagi Balkan Union ft. Mike Stern, Maks Kocetov Band, Camellia Todorova & JP3- Jivko Petrov trio, Al Foster Quintet, Nick West, Del Arno Bend, Alpha Blondy, Frederik Köster / die Verwandlung, Big Band GveriLLaz, Tom Harrell Trip, Festen, Darko Rundek & Apocalypso Now, Visions of a Nomad - Michael Cuming project, Silent Blast, E Play, Tbilisi Big Band, Rambo Amadeus and Candy Dulfer are the most prominent names to mark a spectacular event. This year's edition will be closed by Serbian sensation Very Naiss feat. Ivan Kurtic with a concert that starts 40 minutes after midnight on 13th August.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia marked Nisville as a manifestation of national importance. Furthermore, this jazz festival is the only cultural event that won the "Best of Serbia" statue in 2011, selected by the Ministry of Trade and Services, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the magazine "Privredni pregled", and it is also the winner of the "Project of the Future" Award in the action of the Club of Journalists of Serbia and the Center for Small and Medium Enterprises in 2010. Nisville Jazz Festival is the recipient of the "Tourist Flower" Award for 2015 as the best tourist event in the promotion of tourism.
