"A friend of Serbs in the toughest days" - Archibald Reiss, a Swiss criminology-pioneer, forensic scientist, publicist, Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry and professor. At the invitation of the Serbian government, he came to Serbia in 1914 to investigate the crimes of the Austro-Hungarian, German and Bulgarian army against the civilian population, about which he wrote many articles and books. His works were the truth, opposite German and the Austro-Hungarian propaganda that tried to present the Serbs as "wild people".
He joined the Serbian Army in its retreat across Albania and Salonica Front. He died in Belgrade in 1929, and at his own request, his heart was taken to Kajmakcalan and buried with other liberators of the Salonica Front.
